The trip to Kulasekaranpattinam gave me so many different experiences and opportunities.
1. Travel opportunity in a train the whole day.
The Mysore-Tuticorin Express which leaves Bangalore at 9.05pm on day 1, is supposed to reach Tuticorin at 10.45am on Day2. But, for my bad luck, a goods train derailed at Omalur near Salem, which delayed almost all trans by 3-4 hrs. I reached Tuticorin (traveled alone in the compartment after Kovilpatti) at 3.00pm.

2.Photography option to capture “The making of Kaali”.
Men wear Kaali costume (the red/black saree, eyes, red/black paint, long tongue, hands set with 10 hands, a garland with skulls and a Vel, form the costume set) and of course they claim themselves as Kaali for at least 24 days, must have hell a lot of energy. I got an opportunity to shoot the making of kaali at “Kaavadi Thurai Theru”. It was a dark thatched shed, with an oil lamp, where Kaali was Made. Yes, a photostory on the making of Kaali was also made by me there.

3. Searching the “Young Demon”.
Kulasekaranpattinam village came back to normalcy on day 11, after ten days of dasara celebs. We decided to search a little girl, who wore Young Demon costume on the previous day. It was a very difficult task to find this kid, by showing a photo on the mobile, where few saying “she may be from Madras set”, few arguing “she is from Tuticorin” and few guiding us to go to “Konar Theru”. Thanks to a small boy, sethu, who spotted HIM as his friends brother. Young Demon was not HER but HIM. The shy boy UdayaRaj, son of a local bus driver (Thirumurugan Bus, shuttling between Tuticorin and Manapadu via, kulasai) is born on Kamaraj’s Birthday, so is the Suffix RAJ. Captured some happy, sad, smile, cry, stare moments of Udayaraj.

4. Halwa Stores at Tirunelveli Town.
Tirunelveli means Halwa. Halwa means Iruttu Kadai (Dark Store). We wanted to buy Halwa from Iruttu Kadai, but in vain, as it was a Sunday. We decided to check “Shanthi Stores” and again, we had so many Shanthi Stores in the vicinity. Finally, these guys zeroed in the one next to a medical stores, just close to the Tirunelveli Junction. I bought 2 KGs. :)

More to come….
