When i happened to watch a belly dance performance at Alliance de Francaise couple of years, i didn’t carry my camera to capture the pretty movements of these dancers. But, this time around at the Chowdiah hall, i made sure, i had an entry and a camera permit. Some of the images from the dance show by our own Bangalore based dancers.

Belly dance or Bellydance is a Western-coined name for a traditional Middle Eastern dance, especially raqs sharqi. Raqs sharqi (Arabic: رقص شرقي‎; literally “oriental dance”) is the style more familiar to Westerners, performed around the world. It is more commonly performed by female dancers but is also sometimes danced by men. It is a solo improvisational dance, although students often perform choreographed dances in a group.
